  • 1 prepared pie crust
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, stirring occasionally until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Combine the melted chocolate with the butter-sugar mixture.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  5. Add the vanilla extract to the mixture.
  6. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form in another bowl.
  7. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture gently.
  8. Chill the filling in the prepared pie crust for at least 4 hours until set.
  9. Serve and enjoy, topping with whipped cream or chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes
