Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Filling of choice (buttercream, ganache, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar, then set aside.
  3. Beat the egg whites until foamy, gradually adding granulated sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold in the vanilla and food coloring if using.
  4. Fold the dry mixture into the whipped egg whites until smooth and shiny.
  5. Pipe small circles onto the lined baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  6. Let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes until a skin forms.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes until they have formed feet and feel firm.
  8. Cool completely before removing from the baking sheet.
  9. Fill with your favorite filling and sandwich together.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
